Books I’ve Loved This Summer So Far, and What I’m Planning to Read Next

I got stuck in a bit of a reading rut at the beginning of June. Life was super busy and I was exhausted, so reading felt like a chore.

Then I picked up The Happy Life of Isadora Bentley by Courtney Walsh. I was smitten. What a special story this one was! Isadora Bentley, a rigid believer that happiness is a myth, decides to prove the concept wrong. Following her impulsive purchase of a magazine’s “Thirty-One Ways to Be Happy” article, she embarks on a secret research project. Immersed in her quest and encountering a charming professor, Isadora’s convictions begin to crumble.

I thought it would be tough to follow the high I felt from reading about Isadora, but when I opened Katherine Reay’s new Cold War novel, A Shadow in Moscow, I was thrilled to find another page turner that immediately drew me in. I love historical fiction, particularly World War II era, and I’ve looked for a good Cold War story for years, but I never found one. Until now! This book is a fast-paced, dual timeline thriller full of intrigue and romance. I demolished it in two days. It was un-put-downable.

Coming next on my summer reading list:

  • In This Moment by Gabrielle Meyer
  • Counterfeit Faith by Crystal Caudill
  • Famous for a Living by Melissa Ferguson
  • Her Only Wish by Shelley Shepard Gray
  • Indigo Isle by T.I. Lowe
  • One Southern Summer by Heidi McCahan
  • The All-American by Susie Finkbeiner
  • He Should Have Told the Bees by Amanda Cox
  • The Lost Manuscript by Mollie Rushmeyer

What are you reading this summer? I’d love to hear from you!
